Happy Pride Month! Let’s kick it off with this fantastic rawk record.
There was an option when I was ordering this from Bandcamp earlier this year, to have it autographed for no extra charge, so I figured “Why not?” That was pretty damn cool of them.
Marissa Paternoster, as per usual, provides the artwork for this album, and this one in particular really reminds me of the children’s book Who Needs Donuts? by Mark Alan Stamaty. Busy linework and fine details. A little world that you can imagine hides its own tiny civilization.
This album seems tighter and less meandering than their recent releases. Catchy, almost pop at moments. And of course, Marissa fucking shreds all over the place! Her voice isn’t going to win any reality singing competitions, but it’s a confident howl and vibrato that commands attention.
Yellowjackets really fucked up not including any songs from this New Jersey band that really needs to be more well known… Grab your air guitars, turn this on, and get ready to jump around and look like an idiot!
