This EP was released September 6, 2019 digitally, but then pressed to vinyl at the end of 2021 due to the popularity of the band’s debut album earlier that year, Death Of A Cheerleader from City Slang Records.
I had heard of the album — it was getting a lot of buzz showing up on a couple year-end lists — but I don’t think I gave it a chance until I heard that they had done a cover of the song “Popular” by Nada Surf.
This vinyl was sold-out by the time I decided I wanted it (which is always the case, isn’t it?). Finally found a new copy for a good price through Discogs. For a while, people were asking quite a bit for it, and now everyone is asking for a more reasonable price. As I write this, there are a couple copies available on Bandcamp, so that might have something to do with it.
Very “indie,” bedroom-written sounding songs that portrays a vulnerability that is endemic to young women song writers. These songs have the freshness of someone still trying to figure out their sound, but you can tell which direction they want to go in.
If you think the 90’s was the last time rock was good and are stuck listening to the classic rock radio station, or Lithium on XM, you might like this.
